Van VANCOUVER POLICE, assisted by North Van- couver RCMP, nabbed an escaped murderer at the Avalon Hotel in North Van- couver Tuesday morning. As the result of an in- vestigation by Vancouver Police, Yvan Beaupre, °5, and his wife, Suzanne Leblane, 31, both of Quebec City, were arrested at ap- proximately 11:30 a.m. Ac- cording to a Vancouver Police detective, Beaupre had been serving time in Quebec City for murder. He escaped while out on day pasaie in early October. He had been serving a 20- year prison term for murder- ing two teens in 1975. Beaupre and Leblanc had been wanted on Canada- wide warrants when they were found to be living in an apartment hotel on E'urnaby Street in Vancouver. By Surj Rattan News Reporter The 1,200-memter North Van- couver Teachers’ Association (NVTA) has told the North Van- couver District 44 School Board (NVSB) that its members will now arrive for work a half hour before their normal instruction period begins and will leave a half hour after their normal instruction time ends. For most teachers, the move will mean working from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Traditionally, most teachers arrive for work earlier than when their normal instruc- tion time begins and stay later, depending on their work load. “In effect, teachers will be restricting their activities with stu- dents to those that can be con- ducted within this time frame,” NVSB superintendent of schools Robin Brayne said Wednesday.
