28 - North Shore News — Wednesday, July 26, 2000 Grouse Grinders pitched in to help the Greater Vancouver Food Bank at the 3rd Annual Molson Canadian Canada Day Concert. After hiking to the top of Grouse, partici- pants dropped off cans of non-perishable food and made cash donations. The celebra- tion featured a free concert by the Watchmen. In total, 3,800 pounds of food and $3,800 in cash was raised to kick off the Food Bank’s Christmas in July campaign. As usual, the Food Bank finds its stores diminishing at this time of year. North Yaocouver Michael Dicring of North Vancouver joined six fellow Child Amputee (CHAMP) members last month on the War Amps float at the “New Westminster Hyack Festival parade. He was helping to raise awareness about playing and driving safely. Michael, age nine, was born missing part of his left arm and was enrolled in CHAMP, which is cele- brating its 25th anniversary this year.
