How to succeed in the information age? “Infopreneurs,” motivated by adventurous spirit, create new technologies, new types cf information; and the new ways of doing business. From Skip Weitzen’s book, “Infopret.curs”: An ambitious young infopreneur calls a super successful infopreneur and asks about his success secret. The curt answer, “The secret of my success comes down to having good judgement.” Nor satis- fied, the persistent youngster responds, “How did you get all that good judgement?” The infopreneur answers, “Experience.” Still not satis- fied, he asks, “How did you get all that experience?” Without hesitation the agitated infopre- neur exclaims, “Poor judge- ment!” It is not just experience, poor judgement, a good idea or hard work that makes an infopreneur. Weitzen goes on to cite key factors such as risk, trust and commitment. Not for me to deny the shocks of the free-enterprise system and the pain of “fail- ure.” But agonizing setbacks suffered by entrepreneurs arc both vital learning experiences and redeeming opportunities for personal growth. In “defeat” one can learn that the only inalienable wealth is mind and spirit and one can realize the miraculous powers of commitment and faith. Optimism is a leading indi- cator of success. One can find stability and learn to live in a rapidly changing world by regarding change as what is sta- ble. All you business oriented men and women out there: trust your instincts.
