Did you know that the first shipment from the port left the North Vancouver community of Moodyville before the City of Vancouver was even built? The shipment, in 1864. was lumber and it was bound for Australia. North Shore Heritage Weekend offers opportunities to see and learn more about Vancouver's port. Free boat trips around the port will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17. The sternwhecler SS Consniition leaves from the dock at Waterlront Park. just west of Lonsdale Quay, and travels east past the old Burrard Drydock ship- yard and grain terminals. The ship will cross the Inlet to provide a full view of the freighters and harbor activities.
