to one of our city’s best-known
business leaders and West Van
resident, the former senior vice
president of the Bank of
Montreal, Harri Jansson,

Harri has been promoted to
senior vice president of the hiutk's
Central Ontario Region.
Wednesday Harri few off to the
Mysterious cast to lake up bis new
position in Toronto, (Brrrr! | mean
is this congratulavions or commiser-
ations?) Harri's wite Judy will be
here for awhile yet. Daughiers
Linnea and Kirsti will stay in
Vancouver in the banking business
while Anni hopes to get into the
University of Toronto. Harti's
replacement is the new VP of the.
Bank of Montreal in Vancouver,
Boh McGlashan, who's just
arrived from Toronto, The bank
executives had a “congratulations
and farewell” party for Bob and
Sarri respectively at the Vancouver
Club on Monday night...

It was definitely a new borizon
at the venerable Blue Horizon as
hotel owner Tom ‘Tidball, his
daughter Danette. the general man-
ager of the hotel and their team ofi-
cially unveiled their new million-
dollar roofiep meeting facilities
high atop the 3 1-storey hotel last
Monday. The 214-room hotel has
now been completely remodeled
and updated to the tune of $12 mil-
lion dollars-plus. Tom and company
hosted a pleasant welcoming cere-
mony to display the new spacious
area with many of the town’s busi-
ness and tourism leaders on hand.
North Van's Wayne MacKay of
Mackay Lenarduzzi orchestrated
the entire affair. The very tanned
Wayne has just returmed from a 3-
week vacation in Mexico and he’s
very relaxed. Also looking pretty
relaxed were CKNW's Patti Mair,
Shirley Stocker, Jack Braverman
and his wife, Doreen Braverman,
the owner of the Flag Shop. had to
leave early because of anuther
cagagement and didn’t learn until
later that} was the fortunate winner
ofa beautiful fruit basket...

The engagement that | dashed
off (o was a pleasant reception at
Louis Daniel's Le Meridien Hotel,
Their annual Christmas promotion.
The Yuletide Lights of Hope. bene-
fits dic HEV Care Unit at Children’s
Hospital. Fourteen international air-
lines took part in this 8th annual
fundraiser which, this year, raised
almost $8500. Chairmin of the hos-
pital board, Tan Pitfield made an
impassioned plea for more such
benefits as the money is always put
to such goad use, And after all the
$2 votes for the decorated
Christmas trees were counted. Air

prize winner of the coveted
Yuletide Lights of Hope plaque
which a delighted Reva Bertragy
accepted from hotel manager Pat
Clairmont Even more fortunate
were the lucky draw winners of a

couple did, in fact, take their wed-
ding vows on Dec. 28, in the bright
sunshine on the beach at Jimbaran
Bay in Bali, Indonesia, She looked
absolutely fabulous in a white, full

silk talenta wedding gown and car-
ried a bouquet of white stephanotis.
