Located at 200 block Esplanade, the park will be reverberating with Gershwin’s Strike Up tne Band, Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, Strauss Jr.'s Blue Danube Waltz and Thunder and Lightning Polka, as well as Vangelis’ Chariots of Fire and the Pacific Suite of Conway Baker. The evening will wrap up with the thunderous strains of Tchailovsky’s 1812 Overture. Re's McKay, who was one of the instigators of the concert, is particularly enthusiastic about the location of the Aug. 17 event at Waterfront Park. “With the the Vancouver skyline Traffic fine system in effect SOLICITOR GENERAL Angus Ree announced that the province’s new traffic fine system comes into effect immediately. , Information obtained by the North Shore News from Ree’s of- fice stated that the new system would not be in effect until July, 1990. However, due to a technical error, the Motor Vehicle Amend- ment Act, which reinstates fines for moving violations, took effect July 17, 1989. “I was informed of the error (the last week of July),”’ Ree said. Motorists who violate traffic rules such as speeding, failing to stop for a school bus, failing to yield, prohibited U-turn and un- safe lane changes will be fined $75 and receive penalty points. “These fines will serve as an ad- ditional deterrent to those who are the cause of se many tragic acci- dents on highways,’’ said Ree. Traffic accidents cost B.C. tax- payers in excess of $900 million in health care and other costs. “REA : IN-DISHWASHERS . KitchenAid.
