Special Olympics soccer players go after the ball at 2 recent Special Olympics In- vitational Soccer tournament at Boulevard Park in North Vancouver, Both local teams placed in the (op three at the tournament, hosted by the North Shore Club. Teams from all around the Lower Mainland took part in the tourney. Triple header judged too tough for Jeyaseelan A TRIPLE header in Canadian junior tennis is not in the cards for North Vancouver’s Sonya Jeyaseelan. Tennis B.C. announced last week that Jeyaseelan will contest the under-16 and under-18 events. The talented local had hoped to contest national titles in three age groups, Father and coach Reggie Jeyaseelan said the decision is ‘‘a bit disappointing’’ because 13- year-old Jeyaseelan had hoped to win the under-14 outdoor tourna- ment. In April, Jeyaseelan won the national under-14 indoor crown in Calgary. Tennis Canada has said that competing in all three events might be too strenuous. Association head named OLGA PIMENTEL, Argyle teacher, coach and athletics direc- tor, has been elected the 32nd president of the North Shore Sec- ondary Schools’ Athletic Associa- tion, the organizing body for high school sports in North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Squamish. Concluding her tenth year of teaching, Pimentel succeeds Balmoral’s Bruce Bourdon and is the third woman to hold the posi- tion after Colleen Bartlett of North Van in 1973-74 and Briar Ballou of Handsworth in 1983-84. She is the fourth president from Argyle, following Les Wilson in 1971-72, Dave Backie 1974-75 and Bob Melinski 1986-87. Two of the 17 former presidents are still at North Shore schools but Gene Molgat, President in 1965-66 while at Hamifton and now at Carson Graham, is retiring from teaching; and Cam Kerr, who had the presidency in 1972-73, is taking a leave of absence from Hillside to teach and coach in Japan. 13%2% FINANCING GUARANTEED 5 YEARS F-A-S-T COLLISION REPAIRS CALL THE PROFESSIONALS AT JAYLORMOTIVE 1959 LTD.
