Sam the Record Man downed Canadian Thermal Industries 5-2 behind the pitching of Anne Knight on May 3 followed by her second win of the week May 5 when they downed Avalon 9-4 in which Sharon Bonnie hit a home run for the winners while Tracy Ray replied in kind for Avalon. In other May 3 games Avalon downed Earls In- dustnes 8-7 with Tammy Baker collecting the win and Gayle Bott a four-bagger. On May 5 Disco Sports came up with a 9-4 win over Canadian Thermal _§In- dustries with Sharon Dickson credited with the win. Babe Ruth HIGH SCORING games were the rule rather than the exception in Prep level play last week of the North Van Babe Ruth Baseball Association. Legion 118 downed the Eagles 18-13, with Matt Bragan collecting the win and Kevin Reilly and Jamie Patillo doubling for the Legion. The team collected another win later in the week, this time paving B.A. Blacktop 16-13 with Reilly again on the _ pitcher's mound. At the Junior level, M.G. Builders and Dillingham were the top dogs, each winning both their games. The Builders doused the Firemen 9-1, with Geoff McKay on the mound. Andrew Collins struck out 10 for M.G. in a rematch with the Firemen, with a final tally of 13-3. “Dillingham demolished the N.S. Credit Union 16-2 in their first match, but only managed to edge out the bankers 10-9 in the rematch. Tony Baker collected the win both times. In Senior action a double header between Vancouver Black and Burdett had some surprising results. The Blacks slaughtered Burdett 12-1 in the opener, but Burdett rebounded in the second game, edging the Blacks 3-2 with Dave Slight doubling for the winners.
