Preliminary _hear-
ings into’ charges
against two men of
rape and _ unlawful
confinement opened
in West Vancouver
Thursday and _ con-
tinued Friday.

Jaromir Dvorak, 20
formerly of West Vancouver
and now living in Surrey, is
jointly charged with Wesley
Alldridge, of North Van-
couver, with raping women
in West Vancouver in July.

They were arrested July 5,
shortly after a woman claim-
ed she had been raped by
them at gunpoint in Dvorak’s
home and then driven to the
Westmount area and releas-
ed.

Police said at the time that
they had arrested the two
following a hectic car chase
through North Shore streets
at speeds of up to 120 km.h
which ended when the Ford
alleged to be driven by
Alldridge smashed into a
West Van police car.

Alidridge also faces a
charge of dangerous driving.

The first rape charge
relates to the previous day,
July 4, when a 17-year-old
woman said she had been
picked up in Vancouver by
the two and to have been
driven to the British Proper-
ties area of West Vancouver.

have forced her at knifepoint
to have intercourse, first
with himself and then with
Alldridge.

The following night, a 24-
year-old woman was alleged
to have been picked up in
Vancouver by the two men
and raped at gunpoint at
Dvorak’'s home.

Police were contacted
after the woman called at a
home in the Westmount
area, where she said she had
been released, asking for
help.

The high-speed car chase
began when a car answering
the description she had given
was spotted shortly after by
police.

Dvorak has since been
charged tn Vancouver with
another rape, said to have
occurred September 25 in an
underground parking lot in
the West End.

A 16-year-old girl told
Vancouver Police that she
was abducted from outside
St. Paul's Hospital and forc-
ed into a car at knifepoint
before being driven away
and raped.

Police said she was then
driven to West Vancouver,
managed to escape from the

rapist’s car and ran to a near-
by house for help.

Dvorak is said to have
been arrested in the early
hours of the following morn-
ing in the West End.

Continuation of the
preliminary hearing of the
charges against Dvorak and
Alldridge has been set for
Tuesday, December 9, at
West Vancovuer.

Friday this week sees the
resumption of a hearing in
provincial court in North
Vancouver of a rape charge
against Randolph John
Rewega. The 21-year-old
man is accused of raping an
ll-year-old girl in Deep
Cove October 4. An earlier
preliminary hearing had
been adjourned for a
psychiatric assessment to
determine whether he 1s fit
to stand trial.

Police allege that in that
incident the girl and her
nine-year-old friend were
lured into a wooded area of
Myrtle Park by a man who
raped the 11-year-old while
the younger girl was forced
to lie on the ground with her
face in the dirt.

Rewaga was later arrested
in Calgary.
