Only thing is, I’ve got a very rigid mind, and. -you’l] laugh when I tell you «what happened. Honestly, _what a dummy. Their point of reference was Moody Street, eh, and I knew that. Moody Street joined -Third just about at the top of ‘the drop down to the Lower « Road, :you know where I ; ‘mean? »: Tused. to drive myself to ‘work that way, and | knew “Moody, if anyone knew “Moody... So I set off from my perch _on Keith here, just about at St. George’ s, and I walked east — ‘nice day, not toc hot — and I -walked and I walked and I iS Way: walked, until I'd crossed Grand Boulevard and was hiking up the rise. It was firmly in my mind that when I crested the hill up there I’d see Moody, You've got it. I was using Third Street guidelines on Keith Road, not a clue that ! was all wet. Serenely convinc- ed, as | always am. Ask my long-suffering husband. Well, | crested the elevation; no sign of Moody. I kept on walking, ran out of sidewalk, and I’m getting pretty hot, -.don’t you know, even now when I’m going downhill. “How much further? And I’ve been walking now for close to half an hour. Surely _my old bod hasn’t got that flabby; I’ve always prided myself on my three-miles-an- hour pace. + Well, I’m down to the flashing light by this time, and here comes a welcome bus. He’ll know where Moody is. I climb aboard and ask just how much further downhill it is, ead he says, ‘‘Hey, you’ve . passed it.’”” “Gosh; I can’t have, for the _ last 15 minutes I’ve been checking ail the cross street ‘~ signs very carefully. But he’s sure he's right, it’s back along here somewhere, ; and there, by golly, there it is,’ and I'd walked right past it. .. But that’s no mile from my place! Pah! Those engineers must think I’m some sort of old crock to give me a target like that. |. - And the bus driver agrees. “Boy, that doesn’t.seem like a mile to me,’’ he says, “Pit clock it next trip.” You've already figured it out, of course, but it took me most of the day to come to.
