spring flowers are available
everywhere — at corner mar-
kets, grocery stores, florists
and garden centres.

The trick to perking up
your surroundings is to group
pots of these superb flowers.
Instead of placing a pot here
and a pot there, buy five or
seven pots, or more, (always
an odd number) of whatever
assortment strikes your fancy.

When you get home, take
a look around for items you
alveady have that can double
as containers for the flowers,
as the plastic pots in which
they are grown are not the
prettiest. Baskets, casserole
dishes, grandma’s silver sugar
bowl, hand-painted terracotta
pots waiting for outdoor use
— all sorts of things will do.

soil as well as not overflow
when watered.
E if you report the flowers in a
basker, first line it with 2 srur-
dy plastic garbage bag, so that
soil and water will be well-
contained and not leak out.

Smaller, more delicate
bulb flowers, such as: check-
ered fritillaries, anemones,
irises, crocuses, grape
hyacinths and snowdrops —
are better left in their original
plastic pots, bur still placed in
a more decorative container.
