WV mayor votes as council demands

WEST Vancouver Mayor Pat Boname answered
more than one question when she rejected the
Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority
(GVTA) at a regional meeting Friday morning

Boname’s response was being closely watched by West Vancouver Coun.
Victor Durman, who was also at the meeting to se the regional board Approve
the GVPA, Durman and Boname had locked horas ata council meeting
Monday when Boname said she was not legally bound to cast her vote Friday
in accordance with her council's wishes to reject the deal.

Atthe time, Durman told Boname she would be treading dangerous waters
if she did not vote against the controversial deal. On Friday morning, she did
reject the deal and asked that the vote be delayed unul June 30.

Although the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) board rejected
Boname’s request, Durman said he’s glad Boname carded out council's wishes.
He's nor happy, however, that the GVA was approved.

“There's not much we can do,” said Durman. “Pin going to just hope that
the premonition thar we've stated with regard to inereayes in taxation thar will
fall upon West Vancouver will not come trae -- bet) doubt that.”

The GVA will have control over transportauon planning, policy, service
levels, budgets and finances in the Greater Vancouver Regional District.
