NV cops raid WV pot home A sophisticated marijuana hydroponic operation was raided by North Vancouver Mounties on Jan. 20 in the 1400-block of Mathers Avenue in West Vancouver. Police say they contiscaed 63 large plants which were almost ready for harvesting. The marijuana was estimated to be wi $200,000. According to search warrant information obtained by the News, the marijuana growers bypassed the hydro connection into the home and were stealing electricity from BC Hydro to run the hydroponic grow- ing operation. Earlier in the month, basement windows of the home at 146] Mathers were covered with blinds, bur a North Vancouver RCMP drug squad member noted condensation on the windows and the “strong smell of marijuana emanating trom the residence.” A trace of the phone line revealed that the phone subscriber had nwo run-ins with police over narcotics. According to the search warrant, the phone subscriber was given 12 months’ probation and a conditional discharge {no criminal record) in 1991” tor narcotic possession. Meanwhile on Mathers Avenue on Jan. 20, North Vancouver RCMP drug section officers seized an esti- mated $15,000 worth of hedroponic equipment including lights from the home. Two men were arrested.
