This was one nice cocktail party. While the waiters passed out blueberry-studded glasses of champagne and smart RCMP constables stood by, 200 guests mingled in the sunny garden xib- bling foods from all regions of Canada and listening to perfor- mances by the very talented So La Mi Musical Theatre (which in- cluded Charis and Trina Vanelst of West Van and North Van’s Nancy Adams). To facilitate conversation, guests wore stickers stating citizenship from another part of Canada — ! picked Hitchcock Sask., and _ " others chose towns like Ipper- wash, Ont., Csar, Alta., Miami, Man., and Garden of Eden, NS. Plus, we were given pins from SPOTTED at the Canada 125. .do at the Coast Piaza was Vancouver Port Corp. Another North Shore lawyer (also Consul of Luxembourg) Klaus Priebe was there, as was Board of Trade Managing Director Darcy Rezac and his wife Gayle Hallgren, who are moving back to West Van to be closer to her family’ when their baby arrives. (i hear, by the way, that West Van will have another new prominent face — pollster Angus Reid is moving here this month.) Several weeks ago, | men- tioned that Bancroft had finished shooting a pilot for Round Table, a new Aaron Spelling drama about life in Washington, D.C., starring Jessica Walters. The show has been picked up by NBC and Spelling Canada, which shot the pilot at the Pacific Press building, has leased the old Carling O'Keefe brewery in Kit- silano so the series will film there. Also filming there wil! be the new FOX series The Heights which is . sort of Beverly Hills 90210 meets The Commitments. ‘tndustry sources say that this development is very good for Vancouver — and that it will not have a negative impact on the ac- tivity at North Shore Studios — quite the opposite, in fact. And, budding actors, the majority of the talent (they're casting now) will be Jocal. The fabulous food at North Van's Kypriaki Taverna will soon be available elsewhere. Owner Kike Redono is opening a second restaurant — in Los Canos. Kypriaki South, which is stil! under construction, will be a 400-seat mega-restaurant right on the beach.
