children from Feb. 12 to
Feb. 18.

The open houses coincide with
a free forum which will give
parents information on how to
choose quality care for their
children.

The forum will take place Feb.
11 at 7:30 p.m. in Room Ci4! at
Capilano College.

All daycares and preschools
holding open houses are members
of the Early Childhood Educators
of B.C. and are licenced by the
provincial government's childcare
facilities licencing board.

Services Society (NSFSS) is
offering a lecture and a

strengthen their family life.
In a lecture titled ‘Children

and Divorce’’ counsellor Susanna .

. Payne will offer suggestions on
- how parents can help their

children cope with divorce.

New research shows that people

- still yearn for the “family that

they are, she says. But the ill ef-

fects of divorce on children can be

_ minimized if the parents work

together to raake their children’s
-- lives as stable as possible.

Also offered by NSFSS is a
five-week evening course called
“Blended Families and Step-
Parenting.

The program will tackle the.

- problems of discipline, divided
loyalties and unrealistic expecta-
tions that threaten step-families
who want to live in harmony.

Interested participants should
pre-register for the course, which
starts on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and
costs $55 per persoa or $88 per
couple.
