ON JUNE 16, 1986, Mike
Pinette’s life changed dramatically.
A gas furnace exploded in his face.

After being rushed to Vancouver
General Hospital with second and
third degree burns to 90 per cent of
his body, he underwent 6% hours
of emergency surgery.

During Mike’s 100 days in the
Burn Unit, his life depended on the
356 units of blood provided by the
Red Cross for transfusion,

Said his mother Barbara Pinette:
“T have had the opportunity to
thank the doctors and nurses who
helped Mike through our
nightmare, and now I thank all the
people who donated blood. Their
support has touched our lives
deeply.

“For my Mike, .and for all the
other children wh» have been
helped by the Red -Tross, thank
you.”

The following is a list of upcom-
ing blood donor clinics being held
on the North Shore.

Friday, November 13 from 2 to
8 p.m. at Capilano Mall.

Monday and Tuesday,
November 16 and 17 from 2 to 8
p.m. at Lions Gate Hospital lobby.
