Dear Editor: 1 would like to thank your newspaper for the front page pic- ture and article regarding our off- road racing track for radio-con- troHed cars. So far | have received over 50 phone calls from North Shore res- idents who have cars and are inter- ested in establishing a permanent club here in North Van, We had our first race Sunday with an excellent turnout of 25 cars with drivers ranging in age from vight to 50. Thanks to your article J feel we have a chance of obtaining a small lor from the cite or district of North Vancouver, as our lot will be part of the new Lonsdale over- header sees red on democracy Dear Editor: When Mr. H.A. Seddon castigated the majority of the North Shore (Aug. 16), right along with Doug Collins and Noel Wright, in our demanding the return of the death penalty for premeditated and multiple murder as ‘‘would-be killers ignorant of democracy"’ all I could see was red! Mr. Seddon has apparently never consulted a dictionary or he would know that the definition of democracy is majority rule. Canada's major political pro- blems today stem directly from this comment thoughtless philosophy that we elect our government repre- sentatives to do all of our thinking in matters of political importance, This isn’t democracy but elitist government! And even Mr. Seddon’s perceiv- ed political choice clearly states in its Waffle Manifesto that “any po- litical party that legislates for peo- ple on the cssumption that it knows what is best for them is guilty of elitism." Sorry, Mr. Seddon, you can’t have it both ways!
