One of Expo's highlights, Studio "86 allowed amateur singers the opportunity to record their music. Fifteen of the best singers were invited back to participate in ihe “sing-off,’’ including four from the North Shore, who are Laura Godfrey, Teresa Bockhold, Robert Savoie and Yolanda King. Mike Doodson, spokesman from CKO Radio, which is co-sponsor- ing the event with Cafe Roma, said the 15 singers were previously “stars of the week’? for CKO Radio. Their Expo-cut record was heard on air one Friday morning, and they received a dinner for two at Cafe Roma. Doodson said the winner of the “sing-off"’ will receive a trip for two to Hawaii. “The talent is unreal, I’ve in- vited representatives from recordi- ng studios and record companies, because the talent that { have is so good,”’ he said. The black-tie affair has already been sold out, but Doodson said CKVU Television will be filming the night’s proceedings to be aired at a later date. 11 - Sunday, October 19, 49°46 - North Shore News RE-ELECT! a REE North Van- Capilano An Experienced Voice for the Vander Zalm Team e 7 years service as your M.L.A. * Active member of numerous Government committees e Sponsor of many private and Public Legislative Bills © 28 year North Shore resident © Married with 3 children © Member of Canadian Bar Association Angus Ree Supports: ® Creation of more job opportunities through increased secondary industry by private enterprise. © Strong Provincial Government action to obtain more Federal contracts...such as the Polar 8 Ice Breaker & other ship building. ¢ Improved job training programmes for young people. ® Continued promotion of the labour intensive Tourist Industry. © Increased government support for worthwhile programmes & facilities for seniors, such as North Van’s Silver Harbour Centre.
