BY THE time you read this you'll probably have
done the right thing with that heap of presents

under the tree.

Hope there weren't too
many boxes containing ge-
nuine, preserved reindeer
droppings attached to key
tings, handknit socks (two
sizes too small) or the col-
lected works Ded LeDull.

Many people fold and
save every scrap of paper
and hoard every inch of rib-
bon. Others don’t. If you’re
like us, we heave it all away
and start fresh next year.

But, please, do yourselves
a. favor. Don’t burn- the
papers:. in your fireplace.
Many. fancy wrappings are
made with chemicals that
release poisonous gasses
when: burned and may spoil
your dinner — especially if

Here's a recipe you might
like to try when your Visa
bill arrives, your husband
(or wife) is complaining of
ulcers and your daughters
are considering becoming
vegetarians. You’re
sidering running off with the
postman (or
equivalent).

It’s quick, easy, tastes
great and is cheap. All you
have to do is like zucchini.

Cheese and Zucchini Pie
Plain pastry to cover a deep
pie plate or quiche plate
(make your basic recipe with
1 cups flour)

1 med. onion, diced :
Lib. zucchini, wash & sliced
3 eggs

% cup milk

salt and pepper

. 1 cup grated cheddar.

-In_a very little oil, saute
the vegetables until :golden.
Removs from pan and drain
on pape: towels. While this
cools a bit, pop the pastry-

. lined tin into: the. oven for

about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat eggs with

milk. and add __ seasonings.

Line the pastry with the

vegetables, pour over the.
- egg-milk mixture and top

with cheese. Bake at 375°F
until firm — about % hour.

- Test with a silver knife about
2” from the edge. Let-sit 15

min. before cutting. Serves
4-6.
