Bilt Stanley, the party’s provincial campaign chairman, announced last weekend that Liberal candidates have been nominated and are con- testing 52 of the 57 seats in the Legislature. Vandals now removing More than one in five of the Liberal candidates are women. His anouncement under- lines the rejuvenation of the party since the 1979 provincial election, in which the Liberals ran only five candidates. All three North Shore ridings have Liberal con- tenders -- Jean Driscoll-Bell in North Vancouver- Capilano, Stuart McNish in North Vancouver-Seymour and Mort Graham in West Vancouver-Howe Sound. B.C. The North Shore Women’s Centre is holding a meeting Seymour NDP David Schreck. Campaign manager Bill Beil says that more than 150 Schreck signs were spirited away last weekend. It was the second straight weekend of sign vandalism, though defacement and signs being knock down was the main candidate problem the first weekend, Bell says. The signs cost about $1.50 each to make, he says.
