C1S - Sunday, December 5, 1982 - North Shore News Amess Paintings get the nod THE FRED Amess Memorial Collection now belongs to the City of North Vancouver. City ‘council has. formally accepted the collection of 74 paintings, which was donated to the City by ‘the North Vancouver ~Com- munity Arts Council on behalf of Fred Amess’s widow. The collection has been valued by Maynards at $45,490. Until last week it was hanging in the Civic Centre, but has now been removed for storage to make way for another exhibit at the Civic Centre. The Arts Council, in return for the donation, has asked the City to be allowed to retain one of the pain- tings, Interior. The City will still own this painting, but it will be on semi-permanent loan, according to City Director of Purchasing G.H. Brewer.
