Skating to gold

THE NORTH Vancouver
Skaung club won a gold and
three silver medals at the
2nd Annual B.C. Section
Precision Team Cham-
pionships held at the North
Vancouver Recreation
Centre last weekend.

The Club's” Pre-novice
Precision Team, compnising
20 skaters ranging in age
from 8 to 12 years, displayed
some fancy skating
manoeuvres in unison to
music and captured their
first gold in this provincial

competition by defeating
five other teams from
Saanich of Vancouver

Island, Maple Ridge, White
Rock, Sandy Shores and
Quesnel. Their coach, Elise
Patz of North Vancouver,
was delhghted with the

team's “superb per-
formance” as this was their
first debut in any precision
skating Competition.

The Ctub’s Junior
Precision Team won a silver
medal after a hard-fought
battle royal of 20“%1teams and
was defeated only by the
Racquet Club of Victona.
The Juan de Fuca Ice Pnsms
of Victona came third in this
category.

Both the Senior and
Novice Precision Teams of
the club placed second and
were also overpowercd by
the Racquet Club of Vic-
toria, which bagged three
golds in the 2-day cham-
pionships.

Skating Club helded an adult
team of 24 skaters and won a
gold medal from the White

NORTH SHORE Winter
Club teams took two
divisional championships at
the B.C. Ringette Tour-
nament held in Langley from
March 11 to 14.

The Petites (girls aged 8
10) won 3 games and tied 1
to make it into the finals
against Langley. With great
team effort, they took the
game 4-3. to earn their
second consecutive
provincial championship.

The Tweens (girls 11-12)
also won 3 and tied ! to
make it into the final game

against Aldergrove. The
Winter Club team won the
game 4-2.
