When you have just been nabbed in the local speed trap. Unwary speeders usually don't notice that the speed limit suddenly drops from 55 to 35 miles an hour at the town line. But Friendly’s two police officers notice, and the next thing you know you've got a ticket. Those tickets net the town of 190 people about $900 a month — enough to run the town without raising taxes. Mayor Geneva Cumbridge admits that a lot of people don't like the town's chief source of revenue, belying the town’s name as it does, but she says they don’t realize “we are just trying to exist.” THAT SOUNDS POSH: If you say it quickly, it could easily sound like “a Caddie with a Lamborghini.” Actually, the diesel-powered shopping car shown above is called a Caddy, but its powered by an Italian-made Lombardini single- cylinder air-cooled diesel. You can get almost 100 miles to the gallon and run at speeds of 65 to 70 kmh. BUT WHILE YOU MAY: There's life in the new Lincolns yet, as people move to buy these cars while they still may. The large luxury cars will soon be collectors’ items and as such, could well command quite a price for their owners. While there is plenty of talk about economy cars, many people still value and enjoy luxury and comfort. The big luxury car’ are being downsized over the coming decade, but people who like to be able to stretch out inside a car are still going to like to do so 10 years from now. Lf you are one of those opie. you really should take a look at the 1980 Lincolns and Mark VI's here at Brasso — the only luxury car dealership on the North Shore. You'll never see new cars like these again, so you should seriously consider buying now. An added reason for getting a $980 Lincoln or Mark VI: As fuel economy on these new models has gone up as much as 50 per cent, you really get the best of both worlds. LEASING IS IN: Over the past 10 years, the number of leased and rental vehicles on the road has more than doubled. Within the car-leasing category, leasing of vehicles by in- dividuals jumped 31 per cent in 1978 alone. There are a wide variety of reasons why you might be better off to lease rather, than buy a car or truck, and almost every reason leads to saving you money. We are specialists in leasing here at Brasso — we have a separate leasing department — and can help you decide whether leasing could be to your advantage. Drop in for a chat. There is no obligation, of course, and our leasing experts will be only too pleased to check your particular situation and see if leasing would make sense. NO STAINS ON THEM: That car in the foreground above is one of six all stainless steel 1936 two-door Ford V-8 sedans made for ADegheny Ludlum Steel at the end of the 1936 model run to demonstrate the durability of stainiess. After 300,000 miles on the parade circuit, the car was refurbished by volunteers from the Earty Ford V-8 Club of America in Pittsburgh. They are shown here gathered for a special ceremony to install a small plaque to commemorate the re-restoration.
