Spicer won -the feature 52- kilometre senior men’s cross- country race in a time of three hours, 13 minutes and 48 seconds, 1:09 ahead of defending champion and second-place finisher Warren Salienbach of Surrey. Sallenbach surged to an early lead, but Spicer seized control of the race in the final two laps. ~. *It was a pretty gruelling course,’’? Spicer told the News following the race. Spicer was fresh off a victory in ‘the’ men’s downhill event at a Canada Cup mountain bike race in--Canmore, Alta.
