Te was an art collector who happened to sug- xestto the Kelowna-based artist that the dynam- ws of her colorful paintings would translate well to textiles. Phe art collector happened to be Me! Kotler, president of the Fabricland chain in Western Canada, who commissioned the artist to develop a series of works to be printed on fabric. Spirit, of the Raven and Kokopelli are Claremont’s first venture into creating art for fabric printing. The wo design themes were unveiled in] North Vancouver Wednesday at Fabricland in Capilano Mall. The brightly colored designs, printed on 100% couton, are suitable for fashion apparel or home decorating and crafts. A colleetion of fab- ric prints based on cach design allows for variety in the coordination of prints. Claremont is of Mohawk and Celtic ancestry, which gives the artist a deep cultural heritage to draw on. Like her paintings, the fabric designs are a celebration of her cultural heritage. “Both worlds have a rich culture, full of symbolism and traditions,” she savs. Claremont’s fabric designs — are exclusive to Fabricland in Western Canada. — Layne Christensen Don’t let stains take i VOTED BEST DR 96 8.” you to the drycleaners THE Better Business Bureau offers the fol- lowing tips on how to make your dry cleaning dollars clean up.
