Free paint recyci NORTH SHORE residents and painting contractors can drop off leftover paint for safe disposal at a free collection und exchange event being held by the B.C. Paint Care Association. At the first of two collection and exchange events being spon- _ sored by the BCPCA in January, consumers and contractors may drop off latex and oil-based paints, shellacs and stains on Saturday, Jan, 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lonsdale Rec. Centre/Centennial Theatre parking lot, located at 2300 Lonsdale Ave. Any re-usable paint collected will be set aside and offered free to the public on a first come, first served basis. The BCPCA has established 14 ng Drop-off location in North Van permanent paint collection depots in the Lower Mainland, and is cur- rently working to locate a safe and accessible collection facility on the North Shore. Until a suitable site can he established, one-day collection and exchange events will be held monthly on the North Shore. The Paint Care program does not handle anti-fouling, industrial or automotive paint or aerosol cuns. Nor does it accept other house- hold hazardous wastes such as sol- vents, paint thinner, pesticides. poisons, and pharmaceuticals. A limit of 10 cans per vehicle would be appreciated.
