Local sailor 5th at world’s

NORTH SHORE sailor ‘ine
Moberg-Parker finished fifth at the
Europe Class- World  Suiling
Championships in Auckland. New
Zealand last weekend.

Heading into the. final race,
Moberg-Parker needed a top placing
to finish in the medals. She took an
early fead, but high winds foiled her
bid as she fell behind in the last leg
and finished fifth.

“I knew my chances for a medal

were pretty slim but I wanted to
make sure people in front of me had
to fight it.’ Moberg-Parker said from
Auckland, adding that the wind con-
ditions were the strongest she ever
raced in. “The winds really picked
up. on the last leg and } just got
blown out the back door”
