Pimp charge
A 17-YEAR-OLD male charged with living off the avails
of prostitution in a case invotving a North Vancouver
te@nage girl has been remanded in custody.

The male teenager, from Vancouver, is scheduled to
appear in Vancouver provincial court on March 2,

His name cannot be publicized as stipulated in the
Yeung Offenders Act.

He is also charged with exercising control over a person
under the age of 18 for the purpose of prostitution and
threatening,

Crown lawyer Michael Kenis argued successfully earli-
er this month that it is in the public’s interest that the
accused should not be released.

North Vancouver RCMP were concerned that the
accused would commit a violent crime if he was released
from jail.

The teen was arrested after a Dec. 30 incident in which
he allegedly picked up a 16-year-old girl who was a former
prostitute. The girl had worked asa prostitute for the
accused since she was 13, according to » North Vancouver
RCMP spokesman.

. The North Vancouver girl was picked up in front of the
youth centre at Ron Andrews recreation centre. She was
taken to Broadway Avenue and Clark Drive where the .
accused allegedly told her to start turning tricks. She
didn’t, police say, and called her father who picked her up.
-. Police say the accused pimp allegedly threatened to kill
the former prostitute and her North Vancouver family.

A MISSING 21-year-old West
Vancouver man who was the sub-

ject of a police search on Saturday

was found Sunday after he called
his parents.

Robin Mahood was reported
missing when he failed to show up
for a Capilano Rugby Club game in
Vancouver.

He had last been seen by his girl-
friend when he dropped her off at
Eagle Island in West Vancouver at
about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday,

Mahood was scheduled to play
rugby at 2:30 p.m. at 27th and Oak
in Vancouver. He never arrived for
the game,

Searchers. combed the West
Vancouver area for the missing
man.

Mahood subsequently contacted
his parents by telephone at about 7
p.m. on Sunday. He advised them
that he was in Princeton.

To press time West Vancouver
Police investigators were ‘attempt-
ing to determine the circumstances
of Mahood’s trip to Princeton.
