North Shore skiers hauled in their own share of tnedals at the recent B.C. Juvenile (J2) Technical Champion-ships at Red Mountain in Rassland, B.C. West Vancouver's Erika Gibbons, a member of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, swept the girls’ competition, win- ning all four gold medals (two Giant SJalom and two slalom). Tyee Ski Club skier Julie Hardy, of North. Vancouver, won a silver medal in slalom, while West Van's Mimi Meier won bronze in the final slaloin event. Meier's Whistler Ski Club teammate, West Vancouver's Lisa Yeates finished third in the second day of Giant Slalom (GS) racing. Sead Causevie of North Vancouver, was the boys’ top focal skier, winning a total of three medals, The Whistler Ski Club skier won gold in the first GS event and added two bronze medals over the two-day slalom event. Gibbons, Hardy, Yeates and Causevic will represent B.C. at the National Championships in Newfoundland next week. There was also a strong show- ing by North Shore athletes at the Clearly Canadian J3 Super GS at Blackcomb Mountain, featuring It and 12-year-olds. The top local athlete was Alison. Ma, of Cypress Mountain, who finished a close fourth on the challenging GS course. North Shore boys, most of them 1] years old. took the top two podium spots on the first day of compctiton. Grouse Mountain skier Trevor Bruce captured gold while West Vancouver's Joe Williams claimed the silver.
