[na move towards greater health promotion and prevention, the hospital is proud to have joined the Sercening, Manunography Program of B.C, to open the first hospital-based Screening Mammography Clinie, which has already assisted in the early diagnosis of unsuspected breast disease in North Shore women, Robert J. Siiith, President and CEO, and Victor Bennington, Chairman of the Board of Directors CARING PARTNERSHIPS | Lions Gate Hospital Foundation Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, in its commitment to supporting Lions Gate Hospital, works in partnership with hospital staff, physicians, patients, volunteers, donors, businesses and corporations, service organizations and individuals in our - community. Last year, over $1.3 million was vraised through the efforts of 150 volunteers, 160 businesses and corporations, and 103 service and community agencies. In addition 4,400 individuais chose to make an annual gift to Lions Gate Hospital Founda- tion. These funds go towards the purchase of new and replacement medical equipment, _which help Lions Gate Hospital provide exemplary health care to our = communities. Last year coronary monitors, hospital beds, diagnostic - tools and operating room instruments were provided. The role the community plays is vital. Through our continued partnership we can meet the changing health needs of our communities. The Auxiliary’s commitment to providing service to patients and raising funds for the hospital continues to be a significant and valued contribution to the hospital, its services and programs. Over 500 members give over 50,000 hours of service in 24 categories each year. Last year, $155,554 was raised through the two Dogwood Shops, Thrift Shop, Bazaars, Nursery Services, cookbuok sales, dunations, and other income. ‘These funds went towards the purchase of two Video Endoscopy Systems ($143,850) and 250 books for patients recovering from heart attacks ($1,124).
