WHEN ASTHMA was
diagnosed in Dorothy
Demare’s 10-month-old
baby, the news came as a
severe blow.

Little Anthony had to be placed
on a ventilator machine, and five
times a day, the East Vancouver
mother would give him anti-
asthma drugs to help him breathe
easier.

Having always had a love of
music, Demare instinctively began
singing ta her son as she gave him
the medication, and began writing
her fyrics down on napkins and
small scraps of paper.

After composing about [5
songs, she thought to herself, “if
Charlotte Diamond can record
music, why can't 1?” and pro-
ceeded to produce her first tape of
children’s songs, Sing With Your
Heart.

That tape represents the fulfil-
ment of a long-held aspiration,
and on Saturday, North Shore
residents will be able to hear
Demare's songs performed live at
a free concert at Lonsdale Quay
Market in North Vancouver City
