After contact with European settlers 16 Squamish
Bands decided to amalgamate to form one unit
called the Squamish Band. The amalgamation was
signed on July 23, 1923. Amalgamation was
established to guarantee equality to all Squamish and
to ensure good government.

selopment Commission (NSEDC)
has its collective finger on the
pulse of the local business corm-
munity.

The organization is releasing an
updated version of a) directory
listing high technology cempanies
active lovally.

The document, High Techno-
logy On The North Shore, is anti-
cipated to be ready tor distribu-
tion by mid-August.

During the past year corporate
decisions cesulted in the lass of
seme of the community's success
stories, most notably North Van-
couver-based Canadian Liposome
Co, Lid. (the company researched
liposomes to fight’ cancer) and
Taito Software Inc. (the company
developed software for computer
games and specialized in the
Nintendo system).
