Although he was told he’d
never make it, after a year
he became an apprentice
and eventually part of the
company.

But he emphasizes that for

late to start dancing.
Now, at 36, Wortley is
philosophical about the
future. He wants to dance
until 40 and then take it year
by year.
“If you just let your life
dead you, it will” he says, but
hopes always to remain part
of the dance world.
- And a gruelling world it is.
_ For Wortley, a typical day
begins at 6:45 a.m. on his
exercise bike. After
. breakfast’ and a shower he
arrives at Wyman’s West
Van studio for an 8:30 warm-
up, class from 9:00 to 10:30
.is followed. by another class
or rehearsal with Wyman
until 1:00. _
They. “break until. about.
2:30 and then it’s off:to the
North. Van armories. on
Forbes Avenue where ‘they
rehearse for the upcoming
show December 10 and:11 at
North Van Centennial
