THE DEATH of a five-year-—-
old girl who was struck by a
car Monday may have been
indirectly caused by local
condominium owners, says
North Vancouver City
council.

Rebecca Ann Townsend,
of 705 West Queens Road,
was knocked down and killed
at a controlled intersection
at Westview Drive and 28th
Street at 12:40 p.m.

Driver of the car was
George Hierck, of 580
Evergreen Place, and the
circumstances of the ac-
cident are still being in-
vestigated by North Van

A passenger in the front
seat of a car which collided
with an oncoming vehicle on
the Squamish Highway was
declared dead on arrival at
Lions Gate Hospital
Saturday night.

Alexander Neil Webster,
aged 36, who lives in
Richmond, was in a 1091
Mazda XR7 travelling south
when it struck a Chevrolet
travelling im the opposite

may be related to the closing
of a lane in the 500 Block of
West 28th by residents of a
nearby condominium.

Children going to Larson

used the lane to get to
school, said Alderman Frank

council meeting, and are

He said the lane, which is
too steep to be used by
vehicles, was blocked off
illegally by the condominium
