LIFEBOAT crews and
firefighters from the
North Shore were
called to assist with a
fire that swept across
an Indian Arm moun-
tainside Tuesday
evening.

A house fire at a property
in Belcarra quickly spread to
the surrounding area.

The property had no road
access. When the Deep Cove
lifeboat arrived on the scene,
according to coxswain Jimny
Watt, the fire had totally con-
sumed the house.

Fireboat crews — from
Burnaby and North
Vancouver District, who were
were already on site, stopped
it just as it reached the outsi
wall of a neighbouring home.

However, a light’ breeze
helped spread the fire up the
cliff face behind the house and
ignited a cluster of trees.

The lifeboat crew managed
to locate the mother of the
house owner and her daugf
ter, who had seen the house
ignite as they arrived by boar,
on a neighbour's dock.
