librarian at Lynn Valley Library,

‘says children have no hesitation in

using new technology: “In just a
few minutes they can teach them-
selves how to find the information
they need.”

The CD-ROM is proving so
popular that the library has had to

limit users to 15 minutes each. and
has instituted a sign-up system for
busy periods.

While there are plans to pur-
chase more CD-ROM technology
as funds become available,
Campbell stresses that traditional
print encyclopedias, which can be
used by up to 20 students simulta-
neously, will stil] be the basis of
Children’s Reference service for
many years.
