APRIL ’89 has officially
been declared Canada’s first
National New Homes Month
by the Federal Minister of
State for MHousing, Alan
Redway, and Claude Rich-
mond, Ministry of Social
Services and Housing for
British Columbia. :
The event is a timely one
for British Coiumbians, in
light of the growth of resi-
dential communities all over
the province. ‘‘The 30,000
new home starts in British
Columbia in 1988 attest to
the steady growth the in-
dustry has enjoyed in the re-
cent years,”’ said Brian

panded its service and initia-
tives as well, resulting in a
growing membership and
greater level of profes-
sionalism.’?

The home building in-
dustry is second only to for-
estry contributing in excess
of $2.5 billion in economic
activity last year and
employing more than 70,000
people throughout the pro-
vince.

New Homes Month,
sponsored by the Canadian

Home Builders’ Association
and the Bank of Montreal,
will spotlight new homes in
towns and cities coast to
coast.

The new layouts, styles
and sizes are designed to
meet the varied needs of to-
day’s new home buyers.

Attention is focused on
new homes available on the
market today, and the range
of options open to new
home buyers. Builders will
host open house viewings
and other events in all com-
munities, offering vital in-
formation and guidance to
consumers.
