The program will be followed by the Festival of the Written Arts Aug. 13 to 16. For the residence program, writers will be able to choose from three different courses —~ short fic- tion with Susan Musgrave; short non-fiction with Sid Tafler or humor with Susan Baxter and Linda Lawson. Susan Musgrave, poet and novelist, has written eleven books of poetry, the most recent being Tarts and Muggers and Cocktails at the Mausolewn. She has given poetry readings in Europe and North America and has been writer-in-residence at the universities of Waterloo and New Brunswick aud at the Vancouver Public Library. . ; Sid Tafler began his writing ca- reer with Canadian Press in Mon- treal then moved to the Calgary Herald where he spent five years as assistant city editor. ; The New York Times, the Globe and Mail, Montreal Gazette, Maclean’s, Canadian Business, and Monday Magazine are but a few of the many newspapers and magazines where his work has been published in Canada and the U.S. His teaching experience has been at Calgary’s Mount Royal College, and in the Creative Writing Department at the University of Victoria where he now teaches tne journalism course.
