Sept. 18:
& How Modernism Bittle the North Shore in the 1950s, a slide Jec-
ture presented by Professor Rhodri Windsor Liscombe, author
of The New Spirit of Modern Architecture in Vancouver 1938-
1963. Call 925-7236 tor information..

Sept. 19:
@ Seaspan International Open House. Celebrate the 100th
anniversary of this local company by touring its facilities —-
inspect a Seaspan tug, visit the traffic control centre and take a
peck as the shipyard. From 10a.m. to 2 p.m, A limited number
of free passes are available in advance trom he North Vancouver
Museum.
@ Wedication of the Varley Trail. A trail in the Seymour
Demonstration Forest is to be dedica :
Frederick Varley, a renowned Group of Seven artist and Lyan
Valley resident.
& Help recreate a part of history. Volunteers with some wood-
working skills are needed in the Seymour Demonstration Forest

@ North Shore Heritage Home and Garden Tour. Tour nine of

the North Shore's most distinctive heritage homes and gardens,
from } to 4 p.m., various sites.
@ The Port of Vancouver is the largest in Canada and third in
North America, behind Houston and South Carolina. Find out
all sorts of interesting facts about it om a free port tour, The
ship, Pride of Vancouver, will leave the dock at Waterfront Park
at 12,1, 2, and 3 pum. for a 45-minute tour. Advance tickets are
available at the North Vancouver Muscum. Some will also be
available 45 minutes prior to cach sailing.
