Corey Hirsch threatened to file a
lawsuit in February against the
government of Sweden because it
plans to issue a postage stamp
depicting Sweden's dramatic 1994
hockey victory over Canada. :

The winning goal was scored
against Hirsch, and he is protesting
that the picture of him, allowing
Sweden the winning goal, “is not
the way I want to be remembered”.

Vermont health officials in pro-

19, accused rapist Anthony Minor
had his spirits temporarily lifted
when the victim, on the witness
stand and confidently assuring her
attorney that her assailant was in
the courtroom and that she could
identify him, mistakenly pointed to

box. (Minor was not helped by the
error, in that he had already admit-
ted he had sex with the accuser but -
said that it was consensual.)

In November and December,
three judges in Fiji came under fire
from women’s groups for decisions
in rape cases.

In one case, Fiji's chief justice
said that 2 teenage girl would not |
suffer from her.rape at knifepoint
because, after ull, she was sexually
experienced.

In another case, a judge freed
six men who admitted to having
sex with a 15-year-old girl, saying
that the girl was “well- built”
looked older.
