GROUSE MOUNTAIN'S | glitzy
new Theatre-in-the-Sky celebrated
its official gala opening Wednes-
day.

The multimillion - dollar moun-
tain-top attraction, built on a cliff
between the mountain’s existing
chalet and tramway station, in-
cludes a 140-seat theatre.

Baldry, as well as the B.C. Boy's
Choir, the Vancouver Bach

producer Paul Smith and his firm

Smith was responsible for
designing several Expo ‘86 pavil-
ions and is currently undertaking
the design of Hawaii's massive
Ocean Centre.

As with his other works, Smith
uses the latest in mutti-media
technology for Our Spirit Soars.

Vancouver’s transformation into a
bustling, cosmopolitan city.

For Smith, the eagle has aiways
been a fitting symbol for Van-
couver.

“Like the eagle, Vancouver is
majestic in a very natural way,”
Smith says. ‘‘It’s graceful,
spiritual and powerful. It’s a city
that has really just now taken
flight.””
