By PAMELA LANG Contriburng Writer The proposed new Taurus Ven- tures Ltd. three-storey develop- ment would include ground-level space, 17 two- bedroom suites, and two levels of underground parking. According to a report from district development planner Doug Allan, the developer sponsored a public information meeting on Dec. 7, where most speakers sup- ported the project. Ald. Bill Rodgers meeting constituted community involvement, and that another meeting is unnecessary. Council also received ai 41- signature petition (24 area residents) supporting the develop- ment and 63 form letters from North Vancouver residents calling it ‘‘a real asset to Deep Cove both visually and functionally.*’ But while a Jan. 18 letter from the Deep Cove Community Association welcomed the devel- said the opment, it raised concerns that: ethe Deep Cove Official Com- munity Plan suggests a 25 foot height allowance, but the Taurus Ventures building is 40 feet above grade: *the density of the development would ‘‘set a precedent for further high density on Gallant Avenue:” ¢ the parking access should be safe while not interfering with pedestri- an access to Panorama Park. The new development conforms to current zoning, but council is exercising its right to cali for a public meeting when a develop- ment permit application comes be- fore them.
