In both instances thieves escaped with only a small amount of cash but in both the thieves are still at large. By MARK HAMILTON The first incident oc- cured Sunday when a young robber who may have been armed with a gun fled after robbing West Vancouver’s Esso service station. The thief, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, approached the attendant at the 15th and Marine Drive station at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. He kept one hand in the pocket of his pea jacket and demanded cash. When given the small amount of money he fled on foot. Police believe that he may have run to a nearby car and then driven away from the scene. The robber is described as five feet, eight inches tall and weighing between 130 and 140 pounds. He has straight sandy brown hair, worn over his forehead and Alberto Mousse European about half-way over his ears, and is clean-shaven. As well as the pea jacket, he was wearing tan cords at the time of the robbery. West Vancouver police investigation into the theft continues. The North Vancouver theft occurred Monday afternoon when a lone male Not lau pulled a knife on the female attendant at the Riverside Shell Station on the Dollar- ton Highway and demanded cash. The man fled in a small blue car and managed to evade roadblocks and police patrols that were mounted in the area. The car was later found abandoned in Vancouver. To press time it was not known how much he was given, but it is believed the amount is less than $50.
