internationally acclaimed
opera producer.

starts July 6 at the North Van
Recreation Centre, will be
directed by Tatiana
Vasilieva who has a long
record of highly successful -
opera workshop and
productions throughout
North America. She is a
graduatre of the University |
of Toronto and has studied
in Italy, Austria and the U.S.

Prior to turning to artistic
direction, Tatiana Vasilieva
has performed on radio,
television, concert and
opera stages both in Europe
and North America.

Dr. Nicholas Maloff will
be the workshop’s music
director: He holds a Ph.D. in
musical drama and has been
musical director of opera
oO: izatri and work-—
shops in Canada and the
US.

‘The workshop will consist
of nine three-hour sessions,
culminating with a per-
formance of operatic scenes
at the Centennial Theatre. -

Solo.: parts, duets, en-—
sembles and-choruses will be
studied, with particular
emphasis being placed on
operatic staging techniques.
