Establishing a new school
single-season record for
goals scored for Western
Michigan University’s
hockey team during the
1979-80 season was Bob
Scurfield, a sophomore
centre from North Van
couver.

Scurfield tallied four times
in’ the Broncos’ season
ending series against the
nation’s second-ranked
team, Northern Michigan,
last weekend (Feb. 29-Mar.
1), to run his total to 34,
breaking the old mark of 30,
held by Rob Hodge (1975-76)
and Tim Dunlop (1974-75).

Bob scored twice in each
game, which Western sphit
with the Wildcats, losing the
opening game, 5-4, before
winning the finale, 7-5.

A former standout with
the Nor Wes Caps, Scurfield
ended the year with 56
points on 34 goals and 22
assists. His two year totals at
the school are 43-36-79.
