MacKay said the owner’s goal is to see the plaza become part of the community. To this end, a common area is available for the use of community groups. Bookings for the room will. be handled by. the North Shore Handicapped . Society, who in return will be able to rent car seats out of space donated by the plaza. MacKay noted that a number of groups have already expressec interest in utilizing the facility. MacKay said ihe incorpora- tion of 16 condominiums into the complex, nine of which sre already sold,. follows | t}:e village-style theme that is popu- lar in Europe, but still a new concept in the Lower Maintand. Delbrook Plaza was built near the Texaco station at Delbrook and Evergreen. by Melco Developments and ar- chitect Oberto Oberti. Most of the merchants moved into their space in time for the grand cpening, but La Scala, Queens Floral, Top Dog and Village Appliance were due to move in this. week, leaving four spaces still available to be leased.
