Friday ended the threat
of a strike by Neigh-
bourhood House work-
ers — a strike that
might have forced the
community services
centre to close its
doors.

“We're very happy”

announced Jenny Moses, a
spokesman for the Service,
Office and Retail Workers
Union, calling the - set-
tlement “a pleasant sur-
prise.”
And Neighbourhood
House director Helen Jones
said the agreement was to
the “mutual satisfaction of
both parties.”

But both sides agreed it
had been a long and dif-
ficult road to the contract
signing.

$13,000” for his services,
but she said the government
appointed mediator really
helped.

Jones said that many of
the complaints made by the
union referred to the
