A20-Sunday News, February 10, 1980 Parking signs dupe North Shore ‘rubes’ ) Dear Editor: Last week my car was towed away by TRITOW AUTO TOWING from. the foot of Lonsdale at the request of Seven Seas. 1 was parked in a two hour parking zone (I thought). The two hour parking Signs are poorly positioned, thus misleading me. I felt my car was legally parked in a two hour zone. have learned since then, that the three rows east side Lon- sdale are City parking, while the three rows west side Lonsdale are reserved for marina parking. This poor placement of the two hour parking signs cost me $28.00. Further, when | phoned TRITOW I = was quoted $25.00 to release my car. However, when I arrived at the lot at 301 Seymour Blvd. I was informed it would cost me $28.00. It makes me _ wonder whether the strategic position of these two hour parking signs is nothing buta sham to dupe us ribes of $28.00. In view of this expfrience, City Council is requested to remedy and _ clarify the parking areas in question at the foot of Lonsdale. City parking signs should ‘be placed in positions so that parking instructions are explicitly understood. Hopefully, this letter will alert other North Shore rubes and save them $28.00. Alice B. O'Keefe North Vancouver Don’t fence us out, in West Vancouver Dear Editor: I have been a resident of West Vancouver for the last 16 years and have become very aware of the in- dadequate leadership which our municipal heads provide. They have a long record of mistakes, par- ticularly in the Parks Department. A classic example is the current project involving the fencing of Gleneagles Golf Course. One of the reasons people choose to live in West Vancouver is_ the KEEP IT SHORT Readers’ letters on all topics are welcomed and MAILBOX wants to print as many as possi- ble. subject only to space limitations. Already, in prepa- ration for the installation of a chain link fence, numerous trees and shrubs bordering the course have been removed. What purpose a_ fence such as this might serve, is unclear to me. Gleneagles has mever had_= serious problems with vandals, or dogs and children respect the boundaries very well. Why then, do we the residents have to face the prospect of this eyesore? GETTING ‘BOMBED’ IS DYNAMITE! Development I urge all the residents of Gleneagles and West Vancouver to ask why we aren't considered in these projects. This is only one example of the actions of very few affecting the lives of so many. (N.S. News Jan. 23/80 “Park manager defends Caulfield tree cuttings”). C.S.
