School holds open house ST. THOMAS AQUINAS High School in North Vancouver will hold an open house this Sunday, March 3, from 1-3:30 p.m. By Patrick Raynard Contributing Writer Academics, the arts, computers and sports are some of the areas about which prospective students and their parents will be able to obtain information from the school’s students and teachers. The open house, which will feature an address by principal Marilyn Williams at 2 p.m., is also open to present students and their families, friends and alumni, and all others interested in the school. Parents of children presently in Grade 7 al public, private and Roman Catholic schools are in- vited to attend, in order to learn more about the entrance examina- tions for next September's appli- cants, which will take place next Tuesday, March 5. Scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to the top female and male students writing the entrance exam to enter Grade 8 next September, Williams told the North Shore News. Other criteria in choosing the two winners will! be leadership as well as artistic and athletic skills. Si. Thomas Aquinas, located at 541 Keith Rd. in North Van- couver, is a member of the Catho- lic Public Schools of the Van- couver Archdiocese. As the North Shore’s regional Catholic second- ary school, it presently has 325 students enrolled from Grades 8 to 12. St. Thomas Aquinas will grad- uate 54 students next June, up from 37 two years ago, Williams told the News. She added that the 1992 grad class is projected to total at least 61 students, the ma- jority of whom will likely go on to post-secondary education.
