75th anniversary, and during the celebrations it’s
only natural that a place of honour be reserved for
books,

their own love affairs with literature.

Library staff, said chief librarian Jane Watkins, are taking, this
opportunity to look at the institution’s history. While many peo-
ple rely on the library’s services today, not long ago books were far
more scarce.

That story began officially on Nov. 12, 1924, when the North
Vancouver Public Library Association was officially chartered. But
the fledgling library, whose homes included the top floor of a
